What we collect, who we send it to, and how to get it back or deleted. Written for how this site actually works.
Who is the controller
SharpCode Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 16031384), registered office Suite 6585, Unit 3a, 34–35 Hatton Garden, Holborn, London EC1N 8DX, operating House Extension Expert (houseextensionexpert.co.uk), is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. What we collect

We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not collect special category data. Please do not put health, financial or other sensitive details in the free-text boxes — they are not needed for a quote.
Who we share it with
When you complete the quote form, your enquiry — including your name, email, phone and postcode — is sent to Bark.com, our lead partner, which forwards it to extension specialists covering your area. Those specialists are independent businesses and are separate controllers of your data once they receive it: how they use it is governed by their own privacy notices, and you can ask them directly to delete your details.
We also use: Microsoft Azure (UK/EU hosting), Microsoft 365 (email), and Cloudflare (content delivery and security). We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.
Our lawful bases
- Contract / steps prior to a contract — passing your enquiry to our partner and its specialists so you receive the quotes you asked for. This is the point of submitting the form, so we cannot do it without this data.
- Consent — marketing emails, and optional analytics cookies. Withdraw either at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, preventing fraudulent and junk submissions, and measuring which pages work using first-party data. We have balanced this against your interests and use the minimum data needed.
How long we keep it
Enquiry records: 24 months from submission, then deleted or anonymised — long enough to handle a dispute or a complaint about a job. Analytics and page-view records: 26 months. Marketing subscribers: until you unsubscribe. Records we must keep for accounting purposes: six years, as required by law.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
One honest limit: once your enquiry has already been forwarded, we can stop any further sharing and delete our copy, but we cannot recall what a specialist has already received. You can ask them directly, and they must comply.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
International transfers
Our hosting is in the UK and EU. Where a supplier processes data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes
Material changes to this notice will be posted here with a new date. The date at the foot of this page is when it was last reviewed.
